St. Clare Fundraiser 2020 - Do What Jesus Would Do
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
St. Clare Monastery wants to give thanks for all that it has received in material and spiritual support from all of you who have contributed to our fundraising in past years. This year, however, we see a need to do something different, but just as wonderful. We cannot gather this time of the year to plan, and there is uncertainty about the coming months leading up to the scheduled time for the fundraiser.
In discerning what to do for our St. Clare Fundraiser in light of the COVID-19 restrictions we got a word from God: "What Would Jesus Do? Do what Jesus would do!"
Well, first off, He would GIVE to our supporters in this time of need. Secondly, after giving, He would live on the alms of His supporters (Matt. 10:5-15). So, we are doing the same.
So, we are trying to give something back before we ask you to give to us. Here are some ideas for our GIVING to you:
1) This pandemic has been a strain on everyone. Therefore, we would like to take this opportunity to share our spirit and vision with you by inviting you to come to St. Clare's for a personal day or weekend retreat, or for any length of time you need for spiritual renewal.
2) We also have two weekends this fall that we are keeping open for any of you who would like to come on a retreat at our motherhouse, the beautiful Little Portion Hermitage in the Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas. The dates are September 17-20 and October 15-18. If you are interested, please phone Gina Dickinson at 832-259-6532, or Alice Wimberly at 832-275-2829. There will be a group carpooling, and there will be a meeting to coordinate these retreats. The cost is $350 or whatever donation you would like to give. The motherhouse also accepts and appreciates one-time or monthly donations.

These are ways that we can all stay connected in prayer and in spirit during these difficult times that we are experiencing, and let hope and joy blossom in the midst of tribulation. Our communion in Christ is greater than the problems of this transitory and material world.
Secondly, Jesus lived by the support of the women who accompanied Him. He lived on the alms of His supporters. So, we also ASK you for help in this time of need.
1) In lieu of the normal St. Clare Fundraiser, if you could simply donate something it would be deeply appreciated. It provides the basic operating budget for St. Clare Monastery. Without your help we cannot stay solvent. One-time or monthly monetary donations are gladly and gratefully received.

2) Gift cards for Kroger, Home Depot, Lowe's, or gasoline
3) Paper products (e.g., toilet paper, paper towels, napkins)
4) Cleaning supplies
5) Personal hygiene supplies
6) Yard and garden supplies
Thank you for your generosity. Please be assured of our prayers for each and every single one of you, and all your loved ones.
